Mediation Workshop in Art and Cultural Heritage

Following the launch of the new Art and Cultural Heritage Mediation Program in July 2011 by the International Council of Museum (ICOM) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Arbitration and Mediation Center, we are pleased to announce that a new Mediation Workshop in Art and Cultural Heritage Mediation will take place in New York on February 7-8, 2013. The purpose of this Workshop is to provide mediation training in art and cultural heritage disputes on the appropriate tools and techniques of mediation, emphasizing effective communication and increased understanding. The Workshop will include a general presentation of the ICOM-WIPO Mediation process, as well as simulated mediation exercises based on a case scenario encompassing cultural heritage and intellectual property issues.
The Workshop, conducted by Mr. Jon Lang and Mr. Lawrence M. Kaye, is designed for art and cultural heritage experts, museum professionals, mediators, arbitrators, lawyers and others wishing to familiarize themselves with the specific issues related to art and cultural heritage disputes as well as with the mediation procedure jointly offered by ICOM and the WIPO Center.
